Dixie is approximately 6 years old.  We believe she came from the same puppy mill as the 116 Dobermans rescued in September 2016.  This sweet girl was left behind when her owners moved.  Thankfully, neighbors fed and cared for her until the shelter came to get her.  Doberman Underground was a large part of the puppy mill rescue, so the Chester County SC shelter contacted us immediately when she arrived.  

Dixie tested positive for heartworm positive, and she is now recovered from the treatment.  She has been spayed and is ready for adoption!  Dixie has some hearing loss, but is not deaf.  She is a super sweet, gentle girl that prefers to lay around on her dog bed or in her crate.  She wants nothing but kisses and affection from her people.  She loves drives in the car and enjoy an evening walk, which is about all the exercise she really needs. She walks very well on the leash and knows her basic obedience commands. 

Dixie tends to be protective of the things she loves, like dog beds, toys and oddly her water bowl.  She is also a great watch dog...she loves to bark at things she watches!    No small children, but older, considerate teens would be acceptable.  She'll do best in a home with a calm, chill lifestyle.  Is it yours?  Apply today at www.DUdobes.org
