At 15 weeks old, Arlo was in a home with an older Rottweiler who picked him up by the leg and shook him. He was taken to the vet with a severely broken leg that needed immediate surgery. They initially thought this was a Doberman puppy, however we knew immediately he was a Rottweiler. That didn't stop us from paying for his surgery and taking him into our rescue. Arlo is now 5 months old and growing like a weed! He's just a pup that's doesn't know his own size. In typical Rottie fashion he will barrel into things and can get a little mouthy as puppies do. He'll need a home with no small children or elderly adults. He loves to play hard in the morning and evening, but will happily sleep most of the day away in between play times. Arlo thinks he's a dobie and wants nothing more than to be near his humans. He's done well around medium and large sized dogs, but hasn't been exposed to small dogs. He's fearful of the cat in his foster home and barks at it quite a bit. It's possible he could be okay with a dog savvy cat, but that will be a work in progress. We aren't sure what he experienced in his previous home, but he is fearful when first meeting new people and will bark loudly. He does warm up quickly with treats and positive encouragement. This smart boy has done well learning basic commands like Sit, Come and No. He will do very well in training. A typical puppy, he will chew things like furniture and shoes when left unsupervised. He's doing well with potty training but will still have an occasional accident. He absolutely loves ice cubes and is self entertaining with a toy or two. You'll often find him rolling on his back asking for belly rubs! Arlo is ready to find his forever home with an adopter that has Rottweiler or working breed ownership experience. Is it yours?
