Harley

Harley is doing very well. She absolutely loves playing with the kids, and going on daily walks. She is still growing and loves to eat! She is an absolute joy for everyone in the house. She has done great when we've had visitors at the house too. She just loves people. She has completed some training classes and everyone is amazed at how smart she is and how quickly she learns. We are considering some agility courses for her too. She just makes my heart smile!

Shirley

Shelby is a wonderful dog and we love her very much.  She loves to play with her big sister Dobe Morgan and idolizes her.  She does not pay to much attention to her other big sister Porsche.  She has moved right into our home and I think she is very comfortable.  We’ve not really had any issues with her other than she wasn’t house trained and we occasionally have a poop accident.  I will attach a couple of photos that I took over the weekend

Xena is indeed a "Warrior Princess". We love her dearly though at times, she can be exasperating! Such a brat. I don't think she was taught any manners with the previous owner. I got her into an obedience training class but after the second session, she developed a serious gastritis and the vet said she could not return for fear of starting it up again.

She gets along well with the other Dobe and with the older and smaller mixed breed female. The biggest issue we have with Xena is that she eats literally everything. She has chewed up plastic cookware; steals from the kitchen counter such things as silverware, anything made of paper, and of course, anything that is food. We try to dog-proof the rooms in the house as much as possible because she will steal right under your nose. Now, this will sound peculiar and it is, she has a habit of going to the kitchen to find something to put in her mouth any time that I go into the bathroom to use the toilet. Strangest habit I have ever seen in a dog. When I call her to me, she willingly gives up whatever she has stolen but it keeps on happening. I have to be really careful with toys I give to her as she will eat them as well, even pieces you would not believe she can swallow! A couple of days ago, she ate two packets of gravy mix - foil packet and all. It appeared in her stool the next day.

Xena is due for a vet visit and I'm going to get a stool sample and Thyroid level check again as well as ask if she might have some other vitamin deficiency that is causing her to eat everything in sight. He will probably tell me she just likes being naughty - which she does.

Here's a photo of the Princess taken just now. She needs those toenails worked on. I bought a Dremel with the diamond tip but it's a tedious process as they were quite long when she arrived. Also a photo with her ball and the wrapper from windshield wipers that she "found" by the back door.

Bottom line............Xena is much loved and a happy girl.

River is doing well. She is healthy and exuberant. We started training class at a place called K9 Turbo in Ferndale, Michigan. She has gone 3 times with my husband. I started a similar class with her (different day of the week) this past week. Each class is 6 weeks long and the first one ends September 15. We are working on manners and self control. I am not sure if you knew that she sucks her flank but I believe it is happening less often. I know it's a compulsive behavior but it seems like she uses it to calm herself (like a pacifier). The only difficulty we are having is cutting her nails. She is terrified! She runs a lot in the backyard but it is mostly grass so her nails don't get filed down that way. I think it is going to be a long process to desensitize her. We currently only take her for short walks because she is still learning not to pull on the leash but she literally spends hours running around the backyard. I am not sure if she actually likes the car or not but she likes to jump in because she wants to be with us. We are working on keeping her safely in the backseat. She loves sitting at the back door looking out but mostly she loves it when we are outside with her so she can safely patrol the goings on of the yard with her people close by. She has lots of toys and she likes to play with them. She especially loves balls but rarely gives them up for fetch! I have some food puzzles that she has mastered but she still seems to enjoy using. She likes to use her chew toys if we are holding them for her, she has us trained well LOL. I am guessing that you are familiar with a LikiMat and this seems to keep her attention better than a filled Kong as she doesnt seem to have the patience to work on the Kong. Her attention span is pretty short which I imagine will improve over time. She passed the "temperment" test at a local dog day care but we have only taken her twice. I think she is just anxious and pacing while there and there are A LOT of other dogs so it wasn't what I was hoping for her to get out of it. She has met most of my local human family and friends and she is very friendly with everyone! Mostly we just love her and are so happy to have her here as she brings wonderful companionship, laughter and joy.

Nori

We love Nori! She’s having fewer and fewer accidents in the house, she’s learned some manners from her big brother, Seamus, and she is mastering 5 mile walks in the early mornings. She spends her days playing with Seamus, playing outside with the kids, and curling up for a long naps in the afternoon.
