Presley

Presley has settled into our home very nicely. She wasn’t very receptive of males, including myself, and strangers at first. She has adapted well though now embracing me as well as visitors we have in our home or when we’re out and about. She also wasn’t very social with other dogs at first, but after numerous trips to the dog park right down the street from our house she has turned into a social butterfly. She is an extremely high energy dog and still needs some work with her behavior and training, But I’m confident we will get there. In terms of her healing with the hip she has made tremendous progress to the point I’d say she’s pretty much close to 100% or as healthy as she’ll be considering the broken pelvis injury she suffered. When we first brought her home she would continuously favor that back left leg by keeping it in the air. That leg was also super skinny and lacking muscle compared to her right leg, but now the legs look identical in terms of muscle. We have given her continuous exercise via walks and dog park trips and that has definitely helped build the strength back up in that leg. It’s a real joy seeing the excitement in her when she’s sprinting around the dog park or up at our friends cabin in the woods. We did get her spayed on 8/21/20. We drove her down to brown veterinary services near Huntington WV to have the operation performed. We received a quote from our vet in Pittsburgh and the cost was exorbitant so we decided to take her down there to save the agency some money since you offered to up for the operation. I booked the appointment under the agency account and believe they billed you all for it. We are so glad that we decided to adopt her and she has been an extremely nice addition to our family. I like to think we’re giving her the best life she’s ever had ! Looking forward to the years ahead with her in our home.

It was so ironic that I heard from you today. I just posted some of the attached photos on Facebook last night and tried to tag the Doberman underground but was unsuccessful. I did tag Barb Hawk in them who was Peanut's caretaker. They both are great! Mellow is super easy going. Peanut still hides a little here and there but she has come a LONG way! She has been off her Prozac for 3 months now which is GREAT! I am looking forward to spring to start getting her used to sounds and being outside. I'm glad we were somewhat cooped up the last couple of months because she's had a chance to bond with us and I don't feel like she would run away anymore. I have been training her on a leash and she's been doing great! They are bonding with each other as well and with my sisters dobby (Hannah - who came from the Doberman underground) who lives literally next door to us. They spend a ton of time together. We are still working on peanut with my son who she is still scared of but he has been working with her on a leash as well. (He's 13). They are both still a little shy around strangers but it's still new to them I think. They are both full of love and are cuddle bugs! Peanut sleeps with us buried under the covers and loves to play when she first wakes up. Mellow would rather be in her dog bed by our bed. Mellow is very low key and is not much into playing with toys but they both love their bones and playing with each other. I will send along some photos when we can get them in action outside. We have 2 acres between my sisters house and mine and peanut is SO fast that she will have a blast.
